I fancy a new full face helmet and was wondering does carbon actually provide anything apart from being a few pounds lighter and a bit more pimp?

I once knew a lad who had to have a leg amputated after shattering a carbon wheel and getting it in his leg. He was told by doctors that because carbon is barbed it migrates towards the heart, and the only way to guarantee getting it all was to remove the leg. Carbon splinters in the head would suck.

what a crock of complete shite! ignore the crap above
carbon is used to make them look shiny, most carbon helmets have glassfiber for the inner layers and carbon for looks

I've had a lot of CF splinters in my fingers from fins, booms, masts, battens, boards.
Just nipping off to get my arms amputated. Will it be easier to type with my toes or by holding a stick between my teeth?

I had to have my arm amputated after it was broken by a swan.

That has to be the best crock of CF scaremongering I've ever read.

Your lack of respect for swans is going to land you in serious trouble one of these days.

The resulting attack by the mother swan was serious enough for hospital treatment, and a leg cast.
But WAS IT BROKEN? Enquiring minds want to know!

•I work with a guy whose college classmates were brutally assaulted by swans multiple times per year. They had to build snow forts to keep the swans at bay.
