i did a 11 mile commute this morning and the bones of my arse are killing me, is my seat the wrong angle? i never have this problem offroad with the same seat. Any ideas to cure my botty pain

No, it's because you don't ride a bike often enough.
Get some padded shorts.

YOu'll be sat down much more on a commute than on an off road ride. It wears off if you ride often enough, and if you haven't already, do what OMITN says and get some padded shorts. If after several weeks of riding it's still uncomfortable, try a different saddle.

Get some anti-inflams in you and painkillers and ride-on, you'll be fine. I did find that I got that mostly when I had the nose of my saddle too far down, tilting it up meant I slipped back onto the flatter section more instead of perching on the nose, but after tilting it back I snapped my seatpost
