Trying to find fiddly little washers and struggling to find the right size.

Looking for an M8 bolt washer that’s 13 outer x 0.4 thick (so Santa Cruz claim). Short of going via LBS / Jungle. Really I just want to build up a stock of various washers and bolts that I tend to need rather than ask for one offs and have to wait weeks. Got a number of others but not these (actually missing them on the shock mount bolts in the first place).

Trying also to find the spec for the pedal washers on X0 cranks. Again missing in action. Though think I can get away without those. Maybe I can for the shock bolts too but in that case I’d assume they have a purpose rather than on the cranks where they’re optional depending on the pedal axle face.

There’s lots of businesses that specialise in fasteners. Take a wander round your local industrial estate and you’ll probably find at least a couple. Stuff like that cosy pennies from them.

8mm x 13mm isn’t a standard size for a flat washer (or it is an obscure standard). If it’s part of a suspension bearing set-up, it might need to be a machine washer (ground flat and parallel, maybe hardened) rather than a stamped washer. You may be able to order some from a specialist supplier, but might have to order several thousand. IMHO, you’ll need to go to the bike manufacturer for spares.

Pedal washers aren’t a common standard size, either (9/16″ ID, but the OD is only about 3/4″), and stainless is nice. They’re only a couple of quid to buy from LBS, or even Halfords

Stop losing stuff! It’s much easier 🙂

Sometimes it’s LBS who lose them on service or you get stuff 2nd hand and they’re missing bits but you don’t realise until you pull it apart. People just forget a part or drop it and then not realise it’s missing when putting it back together, but then everything seems to work anyway. Just some of these must be there for a reason. They’re on the exploded diagrams anyway.
