Hard for me to listen to these lyrics and not want to rush and pick my kids up from school and do something – anything – with them. Roll on home time when soppy Dad will be giving my 3 boys the biggest cuddle.

“I pointed to the sky, now you want to fly” 😥

Not for me and I usually like femal vocals in folkey music.

    This on the other hand…

The original version of Cats in the Cradle is by Harry Chapin. Heartbreaking as many of his songs where (died too young)

I can’t listen to “she’s leaving home” without blubbering, I have a 19 yo daughter.

Well despite my cold cynical heart I was quite moved by the OP’s vid – thanks for sharing.
Often feel that way with my kids.

Our eldest just turned six, but I’m certain she was a baby only yesterday – how can she be a third of the way to being and adult and leaving home? Where does the time go? Slow down.

Either of those versions of Cats in the Cradle get me. I make no apologies for being soft when it comes to things about being a parent or child.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.

Love that advert. I hope my 3 think we have days like those…

That Robinson’s ad sums it up for me. My wife went out last night to drop something round to a friend, telling me to make sure that my daughter got in the bath so was ready for bed by the time she got back. instead we went outside and played pick’up basketball. When she got back we both got told off, which was unfair as it was all my idea.

As daughter went upstairs, wife said to me that I’m wholly untrustworthy and unsuited to being a parent. Tonight I’m showing her that Robinsons ad, that’s exactly what being a Dad should be.

(she was only half serious; in time I hope my kids look back at the pissing about and remember that more than the telling offs that followed, or the times they got in the bath and ready for bed on time)

Finished work last night, kids and I had dinner, did homework together, ran around in the sun playing footie on the school field, bath, read to them in bed. I then went to the pub. Top evening 🙂
