you pootle to a destination.. a bimble is less regimented
eg: bimbling is what tramps do.. pootling is what old fellas do when they're taking the Riley Elf out for a run along the seafront on Sunday afternoon..

No it's dependant on the type of environment. A bimble is something that you do in the countryside, along quiet country lanes, bridleways and footpaths and that.
A pootle is an urban experience, and involves riding around looking at interesting stuff like buildings not cahs and that.
Both are done at similar speeds, and will invariably involve stopping for snacks and drinks and stuff.
Like, I could organise an urban pootle round That London, whereas Cinnamon Girl could lead a countryside bimble in Wiltshire.
That's that one cleared up then. Happy to be of service.

Pootle is a flump.

a pootle is a leisurely, relaxed ride on the bike - not for fitness or exercise, but just to fill time and for contemplation.
a bimble is the same as the above, but for old decrepit people, and hence generally involves falling over, being inept and incontinence.Posted 9 months ago # -
Micra drivers bimble.

None of the above, its active recovery, if you are a triathlete in training.

Strangely enough, I'd been thinking about this myself recently, like yer do.
I thought the difference was based on speed, not distance.
So, in order of increasing speed, we've got;Bimble
Pootle
Plod
JRA
Not hanging about
Cracking on
A fair ol' lick
Breakneck speedThere's probably a few more graduations I haven't thought of.

my favourite is hooning.

Including brakes' hooning, I would also include

Sending
Smashing
Spinning
Mincing
Dribbling (can mean both fast and slow)Posted 9 months ago # -
A bimble is obviously a small bimbo: A bimbette, if you like.
A pootle is one of those curly haired dogs, just like Den and Angie owned on EastEnders.
Hope this helps.

I'm not too sure if one could take it up the bimble...

Bimbling is associated with an aimless direction or distraction en route while a pootle is planned but rather casual.
Pootling can easily become bimbling, I'm not sure if the reverse is true though?
Can you pootle mid-bimble?

One can't be longer than the other for they are both verbs not nouns.

I'm not too sure if one could take it up the bimble...
..not even when mincing in the woods?
