Using the works van next week for some site work, and i've decided i'm going to go riding on the way back from site (Which my boss is OK with). Question for all those who have vans Astra size..
Does the bike fit in standing up with the rear wheel still on? (I'll remove the front)
If not, i'll have to see about strapping the bike down somehow!
I don't normally use the van, as i usually use my own vehicle, but the van is available for once!
not sure why you would want to stand it up, wont it fall over when going round corners, anyway i have no idea but i put my money on it not standing up.
that said i do have a 3 door astra and i can get 2 bikes in lying down with seats down and front wheel off so go and have a beer and chill

Depends what fork you are running. Mine would not stand up with fox 36's.

i'd prefer to stand it up and strap it to the side. Theres a full length plastic tray from the boot to the front seats, so laying it down will mean slidy-slidy-SLIDY bike!
And my bike is a reign X with 36s.. :/
not looking good then go and pinch the missues duvet and lay it on that, she wont mind
Don't know about the van but in the hatch, I could stand 3 bikes with front wheel and saddle off and still have room to sit 3 people. One of those bikes was running van 36s

Even though i've got 36s, surely removing the front wheel will mean that the bike will fit?
Oh, and there is more space in the van, as it's not designed for rear seats!
3 bikes 3 people in an astra hatch, nice, i hate moving my saddle but it could be the way forward

turn it upside down, take saddle and front wheel off and you can get 3 bikes in the back of an astra van 
No pics I'm afraid but you drop the 60/40 back and base on the rear seats (the new astray doesn't do this) front wheel in first up against the door. Then first bike in nose first. Then next wheel, next bike etc. I'd then loop a bungie cord through each set of bar and the handles over the doors and another one around the back of the bikes to the seat back anchors.
Hope that makes sense. Stick a small person in the front seat so they don't get handle bars in the back of the head.
when you strap it down (should that be up?) make sure you put some pipe lagging / rags under where you strap it. bungee is amazingly abrasive in the back of a van. my seatpost has lost it's anodising from this.
I wore the gussett on the top of my inbred in the back of a pickup. that sounds wrong!! 
BTW, bike went in fine.
Bike upside down with seatpost and front wheel off. Plenty of space! Strapped to the side of the van and bungied to the seperator cage between the loading space and front seats.
