Ok so I'm a lightweight (11 stone 6ft) and tubes seem to last forever (touches wood) – no not that wood. My pal is bigger (6ft3 18ish stone) and keeps popping tubes at the valve. He runs schraeder, so it's not overtightening of the lockring. I buffed his rim (ooh errr)- smooth as a baby's bum- so I don't think it's that. Is it because he's a fat ****?? Don't want to tell him that without some backup. It's always the front btw

    I buffed his rim

    😯

I think just making that remark disqualifies you from expecting a sensible answer, I'm afraid…

The tyre will be slipping on the rim under braking. Cures I've found is new tyres (and that doesn't always cure it), more pressure, or just letting the tyres down every so often and shuffling them back round the rim.

Dunno if it's weight related or not as my physics is ropey.

Talkemada – I fingered his rim before I buffed it 😉

Tron – Cheers, will pass that on
