By North I’m looking at Yorkshire Dales, Northumberland, Lakes, Borders and anywhere in the general region 🙂

By best I mean anything really!

    Gourmet pub around the corner?
    Stunning views?
    Idyllic quiet setting?
Fantastic location for MTBing, walking, beaching?

If you have somewhere so good that you don’t want to post it on here my email’s in my profile 😉

    Please share!

Beachcombers in Goswick sands, right next to Holy Island is pretty cool. The site itself is not bad, but its right on one of the best beaches up there. No crowds, cracking views and close to Bamburgh Castle etc if you want sight seeing whilst not on the beach.

Really nice site in Rosedale Abbey – couple of lovely pubs in the village, one less nice but still ok (the best is the one up Chimney Bank)
Great walking and riding from the campsite
Dalby forest is pretty close by if you want a “no-brainer” ride

    The site at Wasdale Head in the Lakes has a lot going for it;

Out of the way so quiet (for the Lakes).
Very pretty location (even for the Lakes).
Lots of good riding/walking (its the Lakes).
The nearby Hotel/Inn does decent food and has it’s own brewery!

Mike – Probably heading there in September 🙂

Beachcombers sounds good, will also check out Rosedale Abbey.

    cheers!

Turner Hall farm in the Duddon valley is really nice, and super quiet for the Lakes because it’s south west lakes. Only one valley over from Coniston if you want the touristy stuff or water sports.

sambob – I’m taking a friend and definitely was going to head up the Duddon Valley as it’s a bit of a family spot that we all went to as nippers (and our parents and so on). I’ll make a note of the site, thanks 🙂

If the river is flowing nicely, head up to the bridge near the turning for Walna Scar, great for jumping off into the plunge pool. Check the depth first though.
