I’m in Goa on holiday & every evening at dusk these big **** off bats start flying overhead. I mean they’re not pipistrelles & must have a wingspan of about 3ft! They flap their wings quite slowly compared to the flying mice we have in blighty,
Any ideas what they are, Fruit bats maybe?

Yeap … used to hunt them for food as a kid with my uncle. They are the giant fruit bats, face/head looks like a dog, with both wings stretch to about 6ft easy. Also known as flying fox.

Stopped hunting after being told off by my father.

Nowadays I would even harm such a beautiful creature …

    😀

p/s: then we moved on to hunt giant black squirrel, about half a size larger than average grey and taste better than rabbit, then was told off again by my father so stopped …
