The Cult's first album "Dreamtime" stands up surprisingly well. They were pretty damn good until they became a parody of bad metal on the 3rd album I think.

Most recently... Madder Rose & Pavement (although they never really went away, I just didn't play 'em so much).
Pavement are one of the very few bands who I find their stuff timeless. (Badly constructed sentence of the day, but i'm sure you know what I mean!)
Stephen Malkmus kind of eventually made my Pavement dreams wither...
