  • Are you 60kg?

Reading the access all areas story last night, from my skim reading of it some of the erosion studies seemed to be testing 60kg walkers vs 75kg bikers (15kg for the bikes) in the erosions stakes and apparently they cause similar damage.
But who the hell weighs 60kg? I thought the average weight around these parts was well over 80kg.

So lets say 55-65kg is within range who is in there?
    who is over?
    who is under? (presumably only children/petite women/vegans 🙂 )

    I’ll start:
    over

96 kgs (and climbing). Pretty sure my bike is more than 15kg as well. Does it help that I use wide tyres?

Edit: and I’m 8’4″ tall as well, honest.

I was 60kg not much more than 10 years ago. Now I’m a healthy, not grossly underweight, 80kg…

My ex GF is 5ft7 and very slim, and only a smidge under 60kg.

I think my left leg, both testicles and my cock come to 60Kg.

The rest of me tips me over into 90+Kg territory. I must have heavy legs.

65kg, 6’2″ ~ 5% fat, built like a racing racing. Though my DH bike is more like 18kg…

    All about the weight efficiency!

Wouldn’t they be averaging for all users, ie woman and children as well, prob guestimated that there are higher numbers of female / younger walkers by percentage hence lowering it to 60kg while MTB tend to have a higher proportion of big hairy chubbies increasing it to the 75kg as quoted.

EDIT – sorry higher proportion of well hung muscly types

Given the low % of both I’d hazard they are still well under (and I’ll add my extra 20KG into the equation)

nope from how I read it bike riders were classed as 60kg bike 15kg, you may be right about average user, women and kids, but I’d have thought most mtbers were male, portly or otherwise so the average weight is going to be a fair bit higher than walkers.

I’m about 75kg, but add clothing, full Camelback, tools, food etc for a big ride and that’s probably nearer 85kg, plus say 14kg for the bike. So that’s close to 100kg for a only slightly overweight (honest) 5’8″

63kg here. 2 out of 3 bikes are less than 15kg and the other one is only 1kg over.

I’m well under 60Kg, I look good on it too. Just need to trim a bit more body fat though, looking a bit flabby at the mo. 🙄

    60Kgs is bloody anorexic!

According to Google, I’m about 70kg (assuming I’m remembering correctly, it’s a while since I was last weighed).

    LOL I haven’t been 60kg since puberty 😀

Like turin, probably close to 0.1megagrams these days.
6’2″, prop forward in my youth, always been “big” built, but these days more across the middle than the shoulders 😀

116kg’s (of mainly muscle!) + 100kg’s of KTM + a throttle happy rider = vast amounts of trail erosion. But its so much fun!

63-67 kgs dependent on time of year. When I dip under 64 kgs I just look ill, and I dont even feel the bemefit on the bike as I dont feel strong. 65 kgs is spot on for me. 5’7″
