I’m trying to date my GT Avalanche 0.0 bought s/h some yrs ago (2005 I think). The paint job is bright yellow with black head tube and some grey bits on down tube & top tube. Rear mech is XTR, Forks are RS Sid hydra air. Finishing kit is Syncros as are the rims. Can anyone help please.

I bought an Avalanche 1.0 in 2004, and irc the 0.0 had that colour scheme then. I remember lusting after it but couldn’t afford it!

Thanks Woody, but mine has a black head tube. The spec is similar but not identical – the Syncros bar & stem look the same though so I might be looking at 2001.

I reckon a 99/2000 frame baring in mind the one on bikepedia is likely a us version ….. Uk one probably painted slightly different

Quite spooky seeing a clone of my beloved bike. It now has XT v-brakes and a Salsa rigid cro-mo fork. In summer I ride it with 1.35″ CX tyres. The paintwork is battered and it’s cable-rubbed to buggery… but I love it loads.
