   Hi,

   Im currently doing an PEO2 Electrical course at collage after leaving school at 16 Im hoping to move on to a level 3 apprenticeship but its all looking abit glum atm having rung round at least 100 companies and sending out 200 CV's with no luck Im starting to give up and thinking about starting to work rather than carrying on with another collage course but i cant decide what i want to do next and what area of work i want to get into Ive never worked in a proper job before and i have no imagination to start thinking about were to look, im more of a hands on practical person

   any advice on what sort of things to look into? or im signing up for the army if it doesn't work out..

   Well if you are practical....I'd be looking at Entertainment installations in China and the East. There are loads of UK installation companies looking for qualified folk. Google PLASA (And use a spell checker. If you canny take care to spell correctly they are no gonna let you install a 20 Grand Dimmer system )

   that took me over half an hour to wright and i used spell checker... doesn't help when i don't know what the word is ment to look like in the first place

    speaking as a sole trader myself it's really hard at the moment. I get half a dozen or so phone calls a month from young lads wanting me to take them on as apprentices but I'm struggling to keep myself busy right now, nevermind anyone else. My advice is to get as qualified as you can now. This recession won't last forever, good, skilled tradesmen will always be needed and when things pick up again so will the work. It might mean you have to do a crappy job you hate for a year or 2 but you'll have a head start when things get going again.
