Advice on frames with sliding dropouts - suitable for rohloff.

Hi guys,
i've just signed up to singletrack world because i need some advice.
I recently purchased a rohloff speedhub which i've fitted to my 2006 Orange P7. The speedhub is an amazing piece of engineering and has completely changed the way i cycle (for the better!) so i think it's time to ditch the chain tensioner/chain guide and buy a frame with (rohloff specific) sliding dropouts.

I'm 5'10 - 72kg and enjoy a mixture of long xc and shorter singletrack/freeride with a bit of xc racing thrown in for good measure. My regular cycling haunts are: swinley forest, south downs, afan and coed y brenin.

I'm really looking for for another steel hard-tail all rounder suitable for 100 - 130 forks. I would consider alu or possibly a ti frame at the right price.

After reading some previous posts the pipedream sirius seems to be the perfect candidate as the disc brake mount moves with the dropout. Unfortunately pipedream don't seem to make this model any more. The new P7 sliding dropouts attract much criticism, so what are the other options? nicolai argon?, ragley blue pig???
your recommendations please.....

I'm using an SC Chameleon with EBB & it works very well but if I was going for sliding dropouts then the On one Inbred seems a popular choice.

The sliding dropout Inbred 29er was available with Rohloff dropouts. I know this because I have one in my attic.

Snaps, i didn't realise SC did an EBB. Looks very cool. How does the thudbuster post work for you?

Yes from 2009 onwards the Chameleon has an EBB, I bought my XL size last year & used it a lot over winter - thudbuster is a must after 15 years on fullsus, it makes 20+ miles a pleasure rather than a pain!

what height would an 18" frame be suitable for?

I'm 6'1" & demoed a Large but I needed the seat right back & it had a long stem so I bought the XL & fitted a shorter stem - sizes are on the SC site.

the inbred roly dropouts have suffered in the past - opened up as a result of the torque applied by the hub. the chameleon is a good shout, but there's nowt wrong with the P7's dropouts at all. i have a 2010 frame running an alfine and it's lovely. maybe not an xc racer though, tbh. bit of a lardy one.

the 2006 P7 had sliding dropouts - I guess yours must be a 2005 model?
I think its was the 2008 P7 that had unreliable sliding dropouts - they incorporated the disc brake mount to the dropout but it still only had 2 bolts and they came loose.

I'm 5'10", 72Kg and have a Rohloffed Sirius!

Anyhow, I've decided to sell the Rohloff (it's on ebay and finishes tonight). I might possibly sell the frame.
It's a medium sized grey one. MINT condition having only done a few miles.
Decided to sell the hub as I want a tandem. Can't decide whether to singlespeed the Sirius or sell it. I like the frame, but not sure that SS will be good for my worn out knees!

My mate has a Rolhoff specific Nicolai Argon for sale in the right size if you're interested.

Ogg: good knowledge, my p7 is indeed a 2005.

The chameleon and argon would be pefrect for shorter more freeride suited applications but i'd prefer to stay with steel purely for comfort reasons on long rides. So at the moment it's a toss up between the PD Sirius(m) or Pace RC104(m). Unfortunatley the new P7 sliders wont work with the monkeybone on my Rohloff.
Stanley as we're body doubles i think you should defo sell your frame to me! i'm very interested so if you do decide to sell please pm me.
