I’m fed up after a succession of electric kettles have died/broken, from supermarket bargains to more expensive models. The latest, a Bosch, after 3 years has decided to part company with the lid, with the plastic hinge fracturing.

I’m now thinking of spending more on something a little more durable, something like the Alessi Electric Bird, has anyone got one and would you recommend it?

Seems a waste to keep throwing them away as they can’t be repaired, what else will last more than a couple of years?

I also had a couple of “nice” kettles that didn’t last – Same with microwaves as well.

Just buy cheapo ones now, they’ve got the same warranty period, and if they last beyond that, I can still buy three replacements for the price of a “nice” one

3 years seems quite good. We’ve never had a kettle thats lasted that long.

Carrefour own brand about 5-6 years ago and still going strong a good 15,00€ well spent.
I can’t believe there is a thread on kettles either…

2.99 Tesco kettle still working after 7 years. Retired it for a stove top whistling one.
