Thought I’d share a few photos from Saturdays ride:
23 years since I last rode this with my mate and thought it about time we did it again. I know it gets some mixed reviews as there is a hell of a lot of hike a bike, but every now and again its a real treat. Loved it, despite the weather. 6hrs it took, with a couple of punctures (650+ 🙄 ). Climbs except Honister (fk me, how steep is that road!) were mainly hiked with some scrambling involved. Descents were sublime, absolutely awesome with rocks galore! and we saved the best 2 for last – Black sail+Sty Head.
Started from Seatoller, straight into the road climb of hell and finished with Sty Head descent. Highly recommended!

Its a cracking ride and fair ply for riding off the top of Sty head in the wet. its challenging enough in the dry. When we did it, we started by Buttermere so by the time we got up the road to honister we were too knackered to attempt to climb up through the quarry and do the techy decent off the otherside.

    One for another day

We didn’t do honister through the quarry either. Gone 12 by the time we started and it was chucking it down at top, so took the “easy” way down on rd. If calling battling against eye stinging rain and very strong head wind is easy!
Got a pic of the same river on black sail, fair bit more water when we did it! I’ll upload on a bit

Did it in April and we were dead lucky with the weather.

    Superb day out.
