    Just chatting with a mate and now we're not sure if 29" rims are same Diameter as 700c.

    I'm thinking not, but we're not sure.

    if you mean 29er rims then yes.

    they don't actually measure up to be 29" though!!

    You are correct in you assertion that 29ers are glorified hybrids, yes.

    They are the same outside diameter (OD) but, generally, they're wider.

    A 622mm rim is known as 700c, which is what mountain bikers call 29" and some German & Dutch manufacturers call 28". Mark Beaumont's Koga bike is a 28"er.

    A 630mm rim is 27", prompting my favourite bike related fact:

    28" and 29" wheels are the same size but 27" are bigger.
