My lad need a new bike, he has outgrown the 20" MTB I could probably put him straight to a kids 26" BUT he isnt the most stable and struggles manouvering the bike about at the best of times so have decided on a 24" so it fits him perfect….

I chose this as it is very good value, was very light, the forks even felt good for my little rider…. BUT look at the gopping colour, he rejected it on sight.

I would have loved an Isla bike, but that bit extra cash right now isnt any good to me, and he wasnt too sure on the looks either, I know for a kids bike the suspension fork is probably something he doesnt need blah, blah, blah, but he wants it to look like my bike!!!

so I searched about and found this, is it any good?

Can you find me something better for the same money?

    my 2nd choice.

I can recommend looking out for a good quality second hand bike.
I managed to get a 24" wheeled Kona and a Spesh off here for a good price. Both looked virtually brand new but were each under £100.
The benefits of these bikes being they will retain their value well when you come to sell them on again in a few years.

I hummed and harred over this for my son, wanted to get him a 26"er but was way too soon. I ended up just going to a cheap LBS with him and getting a Raleigh tank off the shelf for a ton. He loves it regardless (the black version), been round Glentress on it… well the green and blue.

Spent the saved cash on building a decent 26" / isla looka-like-ee bike for his older sister.

Once you get to 26" you know it's worth spending the cash because the parts will get worn out. Unlike her 20" which did about 20 miles.

He'll get his when he's big enough and will no doubt appreciate the difference by then!

Then again if you can go up to £200 what about this Kona.

I know it's a bit more but the Specialized Hotrock A1 FS is what I ended getting for my 9 year old daughter. Very well put together – it's even got disc tabs f+r for upgrading, lockout on the forks, etc. They seem to keep their 2nd hand value better than most other kids bikes – which is a plus.
