Blimey, brings back some memories. Was a particularly tough year as a kid, many hours of distraction were spent in the Argos catalogue (and the littlewoods, but I wont go into that).

I used to have that Optimus and the decepticon plane (wings kept falling off)

A mate had that, and killed it trying to huck off curbs following me on my Raleigh BMX with plastic wheels and battery-powered siren etc.

I had half the Star Wars and He Man stuff at various points in my childhood… Still have some of it, in a well played with state.

    And STARSHIP EXPLORER! Awesome.

The “Galaxy Commander.” Uh, 6980? I wanted that set so badly, it was the coolest Lego I’d ever seen. Got it for Christmas one year. Ace.

That brings back memories. I love those VHS video boxes thay you had to try and fool people in to thinking you had a full set of leather-bound encyclopeadias on your shelf in the living room.

errr, apparently, so I’m told by a friend of mine…
err… you can, errr… I’m told that Argos catalogues of that era sold showers and there may have been pictures of people using those showers…
no idea whether, errr, whether it’s true. ahem.

A far more innocent age, teenagers now view hardcore porn in much the same light as (other)teenage boys of the 80’s viewed the sheer collection in the littlewoods catalogue. (that is with one hand….)

    Does hedge-porn still exist?

The newsagents still seem to sell jazz periodicals, but I wonder if the nations hedgerows still rustle to the sound of soggy copies of Razzle?

Binners – at the start point of one of our normal night rides we found the modern equivelant of hedge pron – it was in the form of a DVD.

Sadly we didnt have a DVD to hand.

With the advent of modern phones just who does buy printed material these days ?

Wired for Sound was 1981, catalogue 1985……clearly Cliff was light years ahead of his time
