Suppose I got hold of some shimano 10 speed flat bar shifters (SL-R770) intended for hybrid/commute types. These run on pre 2010 rear mechs (including 9 speed I believe) but, would they work on a new 10 speed cassette? is the spacing between the older roady cassettes the same as new MTB 10 speed?

Likewise, would I be able to run a SRAM 10 speed cassette with these shifters and a 9 speed mech?

    cheers

On reflection, my post sounds like a scene from When Harry Met Sally 😉

Interesting, so would an old 9 speed SRAM mech work with new SRAM 10 speed trigger shifters and 10 speed cassette?
