I recently bought an 09 Wolfridge. Love it, except for granny ring climbing.
I've never noticed it on any other bike, but this one gives me some pedal feedback in granny. I'm running 22/36 with 11-32.
Thinking maybe 32 up front and 11-34 instead. What is anybody else running?
You should try a mk1 nomad then.....its like having square rings 
Running standard 2012 XT on mine and before that 2006 XT and never really had a problem, always thought it climbed like a goat in the granny ring, not sure what pedal feedback would be and if it's doing it it's not stopping me go up hill.
I usually run it with pro pedal on if that makes a difference
Yep, the Wolf Ridge does have a lot of feedback in the granny ring. Hammerschmidt equipped Attack Trail bikes have a special lower link that's supposed to alter the leverage ratio so that it doesn't bob in the 22 ring, but I don't know if it can be ordered separately and retrofit into a non-HS equipped bike.
Without the PR3 on it's highest setting, the WR frame feels like it's got an elastic chain when pedalling in the granny ring.
Not just me then. Very reassuring.
Had an 06 wolfridge which was a great climber. Followed by a Hemlock. This thing feels odd.

I've got the '09 Wolf Ridge 6.8 with the RP23 shock. If you try to climb with the pro-pedal fully open you'll regret it, set the pro-pedal to the 3rd setting and use that for climbing.
TBH, when set up as above i don't notice much difference 'tween the Wolf Ridge and my '04 Mount Vision - apart from the weight of course!
Trying to climb a short, steep section with the saddle fully down and the pro-pedal wide open is horrible though!
Yep, utterly terrible in the granny ring climbing over rough stuff. has sent my feet flying off the pedals before now! When the groupset wears out i think i'll go 1x9/1x10.
Mate, it's the weight of your beard working against the rotation of your sandals. Hope that helps. 
The bike does seem to be designed around the adjustable forks and shock, wind down the forks and stiffen the shock and you have a bike that will climb well enough to be ridden all day (if you have the legs) open everything up and you have a bike that can take pretty much everything the average trail can throw at it.
If you try to stand up and mash the gears in the granny you'll suffer, but i'm a sit-and-spin climber so it suits me to the ground
The Marin and Nomad are both shrt link 4 bars with rearward axle paths designed around pedal efficiency in the middle ring.
It's no surprise they don't pedal as well in the granny ring,but with careful setup they can pedal very well in the granny gear.
Kev, i find i spend most of the time in the middle ring going up and down the cassette so i agree with you there. In fact i'm giving serious thought to going double and bash on this bike.
Got a 2011 attack trail; the smaller the rings the worse it pedals. I went 1x9 and don't feel the need for anything else.
I currently have 32 fitted but would prefer a 36 with 11/32 on rear.
Think I'm going to swap my 36 for a 32 and avoid the granny ring
