Tuesday Treats 83: Rebound Suspension

by 6

Your once a week dose of retail therapy from Singletrack’s Premier Dealers, stockists and advertisers, Tuesday Treats gives you a quality serving of independent bike retailing and a chance to win big in this week’s prize draw.

This week, we’re revisiting: Rebound Suspension

For a trouble free season ahead, Jason Aldred offers a timely reminder to why it’s important to give your moving parts some proper TLC, now! …

You Work late, no problem so does Rebound

At Rebound Suspension we are now enjoying our second year since moving out of the shed and onto the high street. Since Singletrack last got their hands on us, business has boomed. We have a no nonsense approach to save you money and keeping your mountain bike on the trails where it belongs.

For those who don’t know, as an independent repairer of mountain bike forks and shocks, our overheads are very low, giving us the lowest fork and rear shock servicing and repair prices on the web, using only original Fox, Rockshox and Marzocchi approved parts and lubricants.

What’s new in-house?

Our website is looking rather trick, with recent design work making it fit for with the new generation of tablets and smart phones.

New products include long lasting low friction high tech plastic bushings available as upgrades on rear shock eyelets and internal bushings for Reverb seat posts.

Any set backs along the way?

The number of bikes now cramming in at lock up time has also attracted unwanted attention leading to a failed midnight break in attempt and subsequent Fort Knox style fortifications for the shops doors and windows.

Any interesting jobs?

I had a phone call from an interpreter who was sending over an Italian MTB tourist who had his fork drop-outs & arch broken by an attempted bike theft from his hire car, roof rack. He came over and was back on the trails, the same day sporting new lowers.

Emergency repair just in, attempted theft from an Italian tourists car roof, I have til 5pm
Help, attempted theft! Same day service, new lowers replaced, Sorted

How has this winter’s weather affected business?

The wettest January and February in memory has tested suspension forks, shocks and dropper seat posts to the limit. Dropper seat post maintenance is not a new service at the shop but this now well established component does appear to have been overlooked by some riders, when it comes to service intervals with many posts not appearing on riders’ radars until problems appear.

Your Reverb post needs a little love too

We offer late night opening until 7pm on Tuesdays and on Wednesday evenings our shop rides have continued throughout winter, thanks to the explosion of cheap Cree technology and lumen counts large enough to trigger UFO sightings! Our Bolton based rides often overshadow the neighbouring Blackpool illuminations.

How can we best stay in touch?

From day one, we have recognised the importance of social media, attracting over 1,000 members to Rivington MTB, the local Facebook MTB forum. Facebook and Twitter pages, so be sure to give us a like and follow if you want to keep up to date with all things Rebound.

Lastly, what do Singletrack Premier Subscribers get from you guys?

For a limited time (April – May 2014) quote Singletrack to benefit from 10% off Rebound’s published servicing costs.

Rebound’s full servicing price guide is here.
