The Enduro World Series comes to Scotland this year – and Singletrack is going to be involved! Here’s news from the organisers, TweedLove…

The UK’s first ever Enduro World Series race, to be held this May in the Tweed Valley, Scotland as part of the TweedLove Bike Festival, is still looking for a title sponsor. Entries are expected to open soon for the race [19th February for individual entries, according to EMBA’s website], which looks set to be one of the highest profile MTB events in Europe for 2014, and puts the Tweed Valley on an elite riding destination list alongside Whistler and Finale Ligure.

“The quality of the trails and the welcome we’ll give the world’s top riders will be up there with the best,” says TweedLove’s Neil Dalgleish. “But an event like this has a huge budget – money which isn’t easy to find in the current climate.” The event will attract thousands of visitors, with riders and teams coming from across the planet. “We’re lucky to get some funding from Scottish Borders Council and EventScotland – TweedLove was selected as a Homecoming 2014 event – but public funds aren’t easy to find either. 2014 is a massive year for Scotland with the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup to name two global events here, so it’s harder to find funding for something like the Enduro World Series when the country’s budget is already stretched.” The organisers are confident that any sponsors will get an excellent deal. “We’ve reduced the cost significantly – I suppose we’re having a bit of a January sale for sponsorships,” explained Neil. “Someone’s going to get a bargain – with two full days of racing on an amazing course, the event is already shaping up to be the most exciting MTB event of the year in the UK. We’ve already had media requests from all over the globe, and with the Fort William Downhill World Cup just a week later, Scotland is going to be the centre of the mountain bike universe early this summer.”

Now also seems like a good time to announce that the Singletrack office is going to be temporarily moving north in May, as we’re TweedLove’s official media sponsor and will be in attendance throughout the two-week festival. Neil says:

“We’re delighted to announce that our official Media Sponsor for TweedLove 2014 will be Singletrack magazine. Apart from producing a totally braw magazine eight times a year, they also have a very firm handle on the online bike community. Singletrackworld website is now a monster of a success, with over one million unique users every month, while their Facebook page has over 169,000 likes. The Singletrack team will be joining us here in bike valley for the EWS and various other TweedLove events – we’re looking forward to working with them over the coming months. Why heck we might even all go out for a bike ride together. All in the name of work of course.”

Excited? You bet we are, and our hipflasks are already packed… 🙂
