Mars Cycles – Oakland, California
Take note of this bike — of all the incredible builds at NAHBS 2015, this cyclocross bike from Mars Cycles took home the People’s Choice Award, wooing the masses from the new builder row. Builder Casey Sussman’s build this bike for himself, and spent the extra time needed for such details as fully internal frame cable routing (even inside the BB shell), custom seatstay cluster, and a one-off rear disc brake mount integrated into the chainstay where the caliper itself is more or less the bridge between seat- and chainstay.
Steve Potts Bicycles – Point Reyes, California
Steve Potts is a living legend that is still at it, a man that truly shaped early mountain bike evolution from the famed Repack glory days on through the ’90s with his work on frame, fork, brake and hub designs. These days he builds frames and forks one by one, creating this titanium gravel bike for a customer for pickup at the show itself. It’s an eclectic mix of parts, with impeccable earthtone paint work.
Reeb Cycles – Longmont, Colorado
Beer and bikes go together, so it only makes sense that in 2011 Oscar Blues Brewing started their own bike brand with Reeb Cycles. This single speed monstercross build features the latest red Gates Carbon Drive and CDX rings, with the requisite mounts for an internally geared hub down the road.
