Welcome to the forum Watson. Initially I thought you were spamming (unless you actually own Halfords in which case you would be)- but that does seem like a genuinely good idea! Thanks

As Micktvr says- it should be a normal 1 1/8th external type. I could be wrong but I’d be surprised. Mine came with Cane Creek. Your’s could be different. A photo would help more than a thousand words!

#Edit – assumining its alu – I’ve no idea whatsoever about carbon

IME- all shirts wear out. Its great to have a special Pink / Jeagar shirt for interviews etc but day to day an M&S autograph shirt is hard to beat. Once it looks tired – its done. Buy another.

Could be – 49yr year old Nick. But if you saw the earlier thread you might not be so quick to defend.

#Edit – the only ads I see are for Met Office advance forecasts. Does that make me a bit sad?

Light and Fro / MJ856 is what I was thinking of and isnt exactly the same casing but is the closest I can find. Hope that helps.

Thats a magicshine / Go “X” / Fire “X” – something or other made under a different name. Currently sold under about 3 brand names. I’ll go a looking and post back. Some one will beat me to it I’m sure.

First guess is MJ8?2 but that’s a guess.

Normally my garage. But sending stuff off of that age means you’ll spend more than they are worth on a service. Why not just bite the bullet and kill some more polar bears and buy new? Otherwise for Rockshox – Loco (on here) or TFtuned, Mazz stuff – sorry – I just dont know.

Realistically you can service old RS stuff for peanuts – seals from ebay, buy 500ml oil for lowers, 500ml for uppers/damper, £20ish all in and will last an age.

Jeez – technica is the cheapest of the cheap crap imo.

Humax are great (we have 3 in the house – 2 pvrs) but not perfect. The big big plus is the ongoing support – I’ve emailed them a problem and they emailed me back – “thanks, we didnt know that. We’ve coded a fix and everyone will get it downloaded on the 10th April” kind of support.

Also Humax direct have some proper bargains – I’ll check if I still have their last email but I’d guess at £80 for a freeview PVR with 12m warranty. £200+ for freesat HD+ usually if that was an option.

I’ve mentioned not perfect – the UI can freeze once every few months, and you still need a separate remote for the tv. Unlike sky.

#Edit – here are todays deals (which arent great tbh – sometimes there are massive bargains):

Thats a berm near as far as the eye can see!

But you say some Godlike put a tree in the middle of the berm? So I’d pick a point where I can cross the rut at close to 90 degrees.

First time out – that could be pretty sore!

    Like the pink grips btw!

I’ll start with an outsider – transit connect lwb. Swallows bikes. Sleeps 6″s no prob. Bulkhead folds and Passenger seat folds flat for 7″ loads. Can’t stand upright in back though. 46 mpg ave so far for me. Lower a road speed limits. Known faults by 100 k are cheapish (alternator loom, intercoler hoses, central locking actuentators). Based ona focus. Fun to drive. Ok in the snow. Lots around. 90 ps for movement and lx for basics like abs.

Depends on lots of stuff. How good you want it to look / how good the guy is. What size tiles. How much cutting. How sturdy the tiles. A good Tiler will never be cheap or available at short notice.

I can’t give a definitive answer for whatever light you’rte hinking of (beam pattern etc) but I used to use dx torches and two of them on the bars appeared about 50% brighter than just one. My lightmeters (we use em at work) said 2 is 100% brighter. probably the most noticeable difference is pointing them in different directions for a bigger spread

On the surface – yes that is a stupid Q 😉 (two 500’s is 1000 lumens) but in reality 1000 does not “seem” twice as bright as 500 to your eye (or minds eye). I don’t know why.

It’s a very common scam. Item is somewhere remote (actually does exist/ belong to scammer) cheap price. Gets the odd sucker apparently.

    #edit. I meant to say does’NT exist….. Etc. Doh

    Ok. Agreed.

Well actually now that you’ve suggested it….

    couldashouldawoulda

Both the AlpineStars suggestions and the Trimble should work with minor alterations, but all of them are pretty old frames. The main reason I added it was just to give another option as I doubt you’ll have the luxury of finding exactly the frame you want so the more you’ve got to pick from the better.

    Thanks- very much appreciated.

    Thanks MuppetWrangler. Fantastic!

That seems ideal! Any idea what sort of seatpost I can get in there ? ( and lastly for a bumbling trainee – non structurally ?)

    Both sides are equal..

I’m looking at that Graeme Obree Wiki site and thinking – how off the wall is that – jeez that might just work!

So (serious apologies – I have no idea about track bikes) can we get a seatpost for a 5’8″ guy to work in one of those and get his feet on the ground? No speed involved – just building confidence?

#Edit – that repsonse is aimed at revs. I’ve just got some more stuff to go look at Matt!

Those screwfix ones – I’ve got 2 sets. They work great for the first half dozen cables. After that they spread and mash inners. If you build 1/2 bikes a year – great! Bargain. Last 2 years – ime.

If you want something to last and grow old with – go elsewhere. I’ve got some swiss made ones as a pressie (dunno the name). Or ask what bike shops use.

I’m far from an expert – but ime – when you try and sand down b&q type ply (external £27 a sheet) it turns to woolly fluffy nappy stuffing.

I guess all the above was done with quality stuff – probably not from b&q!

Hi revs – thanks – but he’s 13. Much appreciated. But 13 seems to mean looking “cool” (to some extent), eg eyeing up the girls etc etc (really he just has to keep up with his school mates – mainstream school) and so “wooden” is out.

Sorry mos- do you mean cutting off the whole bb area – below the pivot?

Thanks guys – that’s helping me “talk out loud”. I’ve realised that even if I can save him from the frame he’s not going to be far from the back wheel. Maybe I’ll need some form of bar / bracket – vertical thingy, to stop the back wheel running over himself.

Hi Mark – Like this kind of thing?

    http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=trials+bike&hl=en&prmd=imvns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1640&bih=965&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=4444311413933020826&sa=X&ei=hV2wTq2BN9H_8QO87-mmAQ&ved=0CGYQ8wIwAA

You might be onto something there! A real high BB.

But he has to able to sit on the saddle? Can we get a seatpost for a 5’8″ guy to get his feet on the ground?

mmm – we’ve had 2 – a diesel and a coupe 20v turbo. Minor elecrical niggles and a huge appetite for front tyres on the 20v turbo are my only gripes – but thats hardly fair.

I am sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out why I will NEVER in my life buy another Fiat – all I can think of is the plasticy feeling and the god awful local dealer we have (arnold clark). TBH – it a bit illogical.

Edit – ok – I remember – depreciation is astoundinly bad on anything other than their basic small cars. Oh yes. I remember it now! Only buy a base model small fiat!
