    The Marin conditions

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/is-marin-trail-fully-open

Believe the Penmachno Trail Pixies have cleared the trails from trees as well.

    Marin Trail Report from Andy

Finally got away from the chaos at Coed y Brenin to go check the condition of the Marin Trail. Just trying out this new app. It should show you photos and location of windblown trees blocking the trail and trail damage from rootplates that have ripped the trail up.
The trail is still open but there’s approx 14 trees down which makes it a bit of an assault course!
I’ll get the trails cleared and repaired asap. But can’t promise when as we have major storm damage at Coed y Brenin to sort out too. Please bear with us. Thanks for your patience.

Definitely try the Lost Lake side of Whistler, so many cheeky, technical and fun trails on that side it’s just endless, if your not a fan of Northshore stuff you soon will be out there as there is plenty of it just shame i didn’t have the AM Bike to make the most of it.

And get a pass for the ‘Top of the World’ 5000ft of fun and easily done on a AM rig.

The best thing is you feel like you are in the middle of know where but really your only ever about 10-15mins from the Village.

    Enjoy!

109mph Gust at Aberdaron West Wales at Midnight, 94mph Gust at Capel Curig at 1am and they say tomorrow is when it will peak here 😯

Could live in West Wales where they have recorded a gust of 109mph at Midnight, and it’s suppose to peak tomorrow 😯

I’m 20miles from Capel Curig and it’s hit 94mph there, kind of explains why my bins have done a runner!

Main Carpark is closed so you need to park in the Village.

Won’t be that muddy except for the Final decent but that’s more fun when it’s wet but totally rideable it will no doubt be very wet, hopefully the recent drainage work would have helped the cause and they should have re-graded the Forestry roads after WRC Wales.

    Enjoy.

It may be colder because of the altitude perhaps??

CYB Visitor Centre (139m) is lower altitude wise compared to Llandegla Visitors Centre (359m) so so will be a few degrees warmer, at no point does CYB reach the heights of Degla’s lowest point.

Friday looks like Armageddon Round 2 so Waterproofs will be handy and staying within the trees gives you that bit more shelter, the exposed sections if you were doing Abel on the Dragon’s Back section would be a bit tricky if it’s blowing a gale.

    Welcome to the club 😀

No they are plan to re-open at the end of the Month earliest.

You can still access some of the trails from the carpark at Pendam lake, but the first and last 2 sections of trail and access to the loops is out of bounds.

Yeah more of a dull fluorescent Green, wasn’t a fan of it but seeing it in the flesh changed my mind. Well worth the wait when they do come into stock and at a good price as well.

As for the 661 Recon, did anyone else have the problem with the 661 logo being imprinted on your forehead from the padding after a ride?? or was that just me.

No i was lucky enough to be in Germany, they had 3 left all in S/M of course 😀

I sit inbetween S/M M/L (58) but fits fine, may be a bit tight when the hair grows 😆 but the retention at the back works a treat so may not be a issue.

And as for the colour, Blue looks nice but the green is not as bad as others i have seen, bit more duller if that makes sense.

The UK supplier is slacking behind, original date was first week of October and the new revised date looking at CRC is 25 Dec, which will probably move to Mid Jan which the shop i got it from are expecting the next batch.

its not the money i’m minted already given them away but with shops if all you can see is a picture then the picture should be what you get.

Why did you not buy XTR if you’re minted………….

Forgot to add it doesn’t mention anything about a big Orange Left Arrow at the start of Wiggles what ever you do don’t go full pelt towards it or you will go over the edge!! it cuts back in sharp seen a few marks that indicate a few have ignored this sign and have taken a trip over the edge 😀

Corris itself is clear was there on Friday.

The Climachx is fun not long and does has some Snow on the top sections, Snow on ‘Where’s my Ball section’ Snow on the ‘Twin Sisters’ but grips really well and clear from Cadair View and dry as on the Final decent which is so much fun more since they took the trees down which i don’t normally like.

There is 2 trees down as well 1 at the start of ‘VA-VA VOOM’ and on the climb to ‘Where’s my ball’

    So you have everything, Dry-Fast-Wet-Ice-Snow

Snowdon is still full Winter conditions (i.e ice axe and Crampons) never mind a Bike!!, MRT’s busy as it is around 10 calls for help over the long weekend the latest 1st April: 8 walkers cragfast on snow/ice on the Rangers Path, Snowdon. Team member escorted them up and then down the Llanberis Path.

    http://www.llanberismountainrescue.co.uk/news/winter-weather-warning

Give it another week and we should see a thaw, remember the hills will always be there.

Conditions are treacherous in the Hills at the moment, if you are walking the hills please be well prepared the avalanche risk normally small in the SNP is very high due to unstable wind slabs and Cornice. (Crampons, ice axe essential)

It’s been a very busy few days for the MRT’s with people not carrying the correct kit, this is the latest

180 Rear 203 Front, 60% of your stopping power comes from the front so don’t worry about the rear, you could even run a 160mm but run the risk of cooking them 180 is more than enough, 203 rear is overkill.

Cadair Idris: Hard packed snow and deep powdery drifts, sheet ice and verglassed rocks combine to make very difficult conditions underfoot. Accumulations of unstable windslab on many aspects especially Foxes Path. Crampons and ice axe essential. Frozen snow above 250 metres. Fresh snow on frozen snow above 450 metres. Areas of hard snow above 300 metres.

Not melting fast up here and i’m 30miles North of Cad, still plenty of snow around here so would recommend avoiding Cad all together.

Cadair Idris: Deep drifts (in excess of 2m) obliterating paths in places, scoured ground covered in sheet ice, rocks verglased. Cornices and unstable windslab forming on all aspects. Axe and crampons essential. Snow goggles very useful. Light snow above 200 metres. 60cm of snow at 400 metres.

Yes the close the trails due to the good old H&S

Keep an eye out here for the latest http://www.oneplanetadventure.com/

It will 100% be closed tomorrow

Flintshire, Wrexham and Denbighshire in the firing line tomorrow. 10 to 15cm of snow possible at low levels. 4 to 6 inches. 20 to 40cm, 8 to 16 inches or more higher up.

On the Clwydian Hills and Berwyn Mountains well over a foot of snow is possible by the end of tomorrow with big drifts and blizzards.

That extends into Saturday so hardly doubt it will thaw that quick by Sunday

    ———————-

Agree with 100mphplus the start of B Line is frustrating when people get off and push down the rollable start (seen many roll it and not fall off) then get off again to get off the Northshore (seen many roll that too) and rider courtesy seems to be none existent these days and ride within your limit, it’s a good blast but made too easy for a Black section IMO.

Llandegla will probably be closed on Sunday looking at the current weather forecast for up here.
