I used to ride a Taurine which I think was similar to a Flash albeit a 26″ wheeler.

I fitted great on a medium at just over 5ft 7 with a 31″ inside leg.

There has been a similar topic a few weeks ago.

I had exactly the same issue a couple of years ago after the material came away at the rear underside of my Gobi.

I sent mine back to the supplying shop and they replaced it with a brand new saddle.

I’ve had a few Gobi’s since and all have been faultless.

Give the shop a call and see what they say.

No too sure to be honest.

This is a video demonstrating a Lefty compared to a standard suspension fork….

It’s certainly not a cheap way of getting front suspension.

I purely went for the carbon as it wasn’t much dearer than the alloy version and because I’m a pure bike tart; I thought the carbon looked better.

Not sure what mine weighs, but Cannondale claim 1250g.

I don’t think that would include the Lefty-4-All steerer though.

Just to confirm what monkeyp said….

I’ve got no connection to Qwerty, but they were really great to deal with when I bought a Lefty from them a few months ago.

I ended up with a carbon XLR 100mm fork to go on an XC frame.

There was a similar thread last week here.

I’ve had our two dogs with Petplan for years now.

I’ve had to make quite a few claims and they’ve always been quick and hassle free to deal with.

As mesh said, they’re not the cheapest; but I think they’re pretty much widely regarded as being the best.

A few other insurance posts here , here and here. They’re about dog insurance rather than cats, but the same companies cover putty tats as well.

I used to squirt a water pistol at my dogs to stop them barking. They now only have to get sight of the water pistol and it stops them from barking. I definitely wouldn’t give them a clip.

Qwerty are really great to deal with.

They gave me loads of advice when I dealt with them and were quick to answer any questions.

Mosaic MT-1 with XX1 and a carbon Lefty.

No idea what it weighs though.

Can I be cheeky and put a bike advert in?

Love this one especially with it being on the Isle Of Man.

The Manx GP starts today and will hopefully have the bikes flying past the end of our road in only a few hours……. if the rain clears off

I once called them up to check what part I needed to order for my brakes and they sent it to me FOC. I didn’t even have to pay postage.

It wasn’t even a warranty issue, so they had no obligation.

They’re really great folks.

You’ve also got an Auris estate and Civic estate coming out at some point as well.

The Leon ST does look nice though.

There is a Leon estate due to be launched in September.

No prices on the Seat site though.

I’m a big fan of Gobi’s, but I’ve found the K-ium railed version to be far comfier than the Manganese version.

Fizik website reckons 255g for the Manganese and 229g for the K-ium, so nowt in it really.

I can tell you Pace is all well and good with some interesting stuff in the pipeline, Keep them peeled folks!
Square tubed hardtails. Square tubed hardtails. Square tubed hardtails. Please let it be square tubed hardtails.

How much would I love them to do a reissue of the RC100 8)

A limited run would surely have no problem selling.

I’ve contacted them a few times to try and buy an RC7 stembar; but they never seemed to get around to actually making one to sell.

They serviced a pair of 98 RC36 Evo’s for me a couple of years ago and they came back as good as new.
So they’ll work brilliantly for 5 minutes, then fall apart because of an inherent design flaw that they refuse to acknowledge or do anything about?

I sent them to Fork English not Pace. Tim definitely knows his stuff when it comes to Pace forks.

I liked my RC36’s and never had personally never a problem with them.

The only Pace forks I had an issue with were a pair of 92 RC35’s which had an issue with the bonding on one of the legs. They were a few years old though.

Fork English are really great.

They serviced a pair of 98 RC36 Evo’s for me a couple of years ago and they came back as good as new.

I’d definitely be using them over Pace for fork servicing, especially for the older stuff.

I think Tim was using the name justbackdated on STW.

It’s surprising how quickly you can adapt to different working hours and patterns.

I went from needing 8 hours sleep when I was in car sales to half that when I changed to my current job.

I’ve had a few titanium bikes over the years and I wouldn’t say they rode any better than the steel, carbon and aluminium bikes I’ve owned.

My Dekerf and Jones are both steel and amazing; each with their own individual character.

I do love the look and finish on a titanium frame though and go proper gooey over a nice weld :D

I’m just getting this built up at the mo…..

@ Amplebrew I loved that shift pattern! as they also used to throw 1 or 2 12 hours shifs into the 6 days every 3 months we got 6 days off in a row (extra RDIL for the hours) so was brill!!! current shift pattern pants..hoping I won’t be on shift for much longer we’ll see though as the long days off are nice.

The 2-2-2 pattern is fantastic and much nicer than my old Lanc’s shifts. It means that only 6 days leave gives me 2 weeks off.

We did used to ‘spare days’ every so often to make up our hours, but we now work 12hr shifts on our weekend nights to cover the shortfall.

I think I’d struggle to go on a Mon – Fri role as shifts are great for getting things done. It’s also lovely being out and about in the peace and quiet whilst everyone else is at work.

@ crashtestmonkey & Munqe-chick

The 4 days off is really great as I can get a few days away without actually needing to take any leave.

I believe you need a ‘motor vehicle’ to get done for speeding.

There is also no legal requirement for a speedo, so might not know anyway.

I work 6 days on and 4 days off.

My 6 days consist of:

2 x early shifts (7.30am – 4.30pm)
2 x late shifts (3pm to midnight midweek or 4pm to 2am Fri and Sat)
2 x night shifts (11pm to 8am midweek or 8pm to 8am Fri and Sat)

My first day off is always straight off a night shift, so I suppose its more like 3 and a bit days off.

The nature of my work however means that I can often get kept on and / or have a quick turnaround.

Last week for example I started work at 7.30am on Wednesday and then finally finished at 1am the following day on Thursday. I was then back in at 7.30am on that same day.

It’s also common to have your shifts changed or hours increased due to ‘operational demands.’

Not complaining though as I enjoy my job 8)

Tweeks have got 20% off XX1 components, don’t know how that compares to the other shops.

They don’t seem to have the chainset though.

The stuff from Tweeks is boxed stuff and not OEM if that makes a difference.

The cassette is expensive, but it does look pretty amazing.

Amplebrew – thanks, that would work I guess. Seems pricey for what it is and a clunky solution – I like the Mpart one – just need the right size!

That’s cool.

I’d imagine the Salsa clamp would be a well sorted bit of kit, although admittedly I’ve no personal experience.

amplebrew

Would this be any good from Charlie?

It’s a salsa clamp that you can fit anywhere on your post.

It mounts straight onto the post so you would still need your original seat clamp.

No personal experience of the bike but for what it’s worth, August MBUK has a review on the Strive AL 8.0.

They test it against a Saracen Ariel 161, Vitus Sommet 1 and a Nukeproof Mega AM Comp.

Not too sure how good their reviews are, but maybe worth a skeet.

When I built up my wife’s 1st mtb, it had a 10 degree 90mm stem.

It soon ended up with a 20 degree stem but with a 70mm length as she wanted a more upright position.

It’s worth while maybe reducing the reach slightly as well as the bar height.

Great news that you got good offer from the driver and the cash in the bank; especially without all the extra hassle and wait of having to go through more official channels.

I’d be looking at something that either has guards or has fittings to take them.

Mudguards make the world of difference to a winter commute.

I commuted all last winter on an mtb with crud catchers fitted, but it was nowhere near as nice as being on a bike with full mudguards.
