Just about finished building up a Cove Handjob, and was going to fit a pair of the older black gold mono mini with a pait of sawtooth floating rotors. As the front needs a new hose, I ve been looking at replacing them with new brakes. Anyone tried both the newer XT and the Hope X2, which is better? Cheers

I've just gone from a bike with 2009 XT disc brakes to a bike with X2's.

I found that XT were more powerful or certainly felt so to me.

The X2's however have a better feel (less on and off) and look fantastic.

I purely went for Hope due to having a few warranty issues on Shimano stuff over the last year. Madison took ages to sort stuff out where as I've always found Hope to be really good 🙂

I had a XT lever clamp snap at only 5nm, so that swung it for me.

I don't think you'd go wrong with either though.

For info, I went from XT's with 160mm front and rear discs to X2's with 160's and braided hoses.

Ribble's got XT M775's for 64.50 an end if you don't need rotors or adaptors.

I have a set of each and I find the XT a bit more powerful. However the X2s have a really nice feel, look much prettier and are easier to bleed and set up.

They're good powerful brakes, you'll be over the moon.
