Does anyone use  the WordleBot? I don’t understand its commentary on my third guess:

Although XXXXX  (my third guess) left only one solution, some of this was luck: If the solution had been YYYYY  there still would have been two words to choose.

Well which  is it? How can there only be one solution if there could also apparently be another solution? Is it trying to say that the alternative isn’t a valid word ? Does not compute

EDIT. must be a glitch in the software. The alternative word can’t be a solution as one of its letters is already eliminated.

Don’t think either today’s or CANDY have come up more than once. Just checked on some of the answer list sites & it seems to confirm this.

I thought that word had been used recently, so took 5 moves in every other direction.

AIUI, the NY Times changed the word selection algorithm from just working down a list to some sort of randomized selection from the list. That means that recently used words are just as likely to be the answer as any other word. Avoiding words because they were used recently is not a good strategy.

I just think up a word every day, mostly random, sometimes 1 vowel, sometimes 3. Today I guessed the right word and I felt cheated! That’s the second time it’s happened too. A three is my sweet spot. (So I’m disappointed with a 2 as well) I’m trying to keep my 3s ahead of my 5s (currently leading 157 to 151).
I used to tell people if asked that my start words were JAZZY or KLUNK until that time when starting with KLUNK would have guaranteed me a 2.
