Look carefully at how the job is estimated. Mrs MC went to a woodburner shop for a quote. The stove itself was well priced (£1k) but the fitting, flue and wood beam above the fire made it all up to about £5k. We ended up buying the stove but sourcing everything else online plus a bit of mahogany from the FiL’s woodshed and got someone else to fit it. It worked out a lot cheaper, more like £2k and that included the most robust multi-burn flue with the longest guarantee. Had some good results on Ebay getting a vintage copper and brass coal scuttle and a brush set. Now got to look at buying/constructing a log shed.
