    No different to that, they push the backs of hands forward and touch finger tips – hand to hand, whilst sticking the thumbs on both hands straight up. Cameron and brown both do it.

    I thought it was a coliseum thing, thumbs up meant "Show mercy, let them live", as opposed to thumbs down in a stabbing motion, which means "Kill them".

    I heard it as thumb up mercy, thumb closed in fist for the chop.

    And politicians do it to appear chummy and positive, and
    not what they really are, which is C*nts.
