never understood chilli dogs, why would I want mince and wet bread with my hotdog?

Hotdog with fried onions and yellow mustard, and repeat until full/sick… end.
Ahh if you really insist… onion rings.

Rosti sounds good. Thanks. With a bit more time Id make bubble and squeak.

Chilli dogs arent our thing – weve tried ‘sloppy joes’ which is bbq beef in a bap, we didnt enjoy it.

Caramelised balsamic onions, ketchup, bun. Side of, oh I don’t know, wedges? Hash browns? Spicy rice? Pie?

    Standard is mustard and ketchup.
    Quite nice with coleslaw.
Awesome with pulled pork, unless you are Hora.
Mexican dogs are good too, basically all the toppings you’d have on Nachos

    Currywurst. Yum.

Otherwise fried onions and American mustard. Also yum.

    Fries optional.

And to annoy everyone: omnomnomnom! 😀

Make pasta. Chop up hot dogs. Toss into sauce.

    (Then add the hot dogs)

replace standard (boring) finger rolls with tasty brioche (not the chocolate variety).

Throw the hotdogs in the bin and buy some proper sausages.

Cougar – A good child friendly dinner thats suitable (tasty enough) for adults, thanks!

Acidchunks – I wish I got your message before I left to get supplies.

So dinner is hot dogs with boring finger rolls, fried onions, mustard, ketchup and cheesey potato rosti with neoploitan finger icecreams for pud. Top that for 15 minutes prep!

Drac – If it was my choice I would. Hate boring slop meals (fish fingers chips and beans).

Makes a nice change from bolognaise.

In the absence of actual food once when camping, I boiled up a couple of precooked flavoured rice pouches with a handful of chopped-up hotdogs. Filling and surprisingly tasty.

Hotdogs and pasta, with a cheesy sauce – wonderful!

The Binnerettes roll them up in cheese singles, pop them in those really crap pre-sliced white rolls, then smother them in ketchup. No mustard. No onions. They then have to be eaten with those Maccy D style ‘fries’

And who am I to argue with that?! They’re their fathers daughters 😀

If I was having hot dog sausages, I’d have then with a bucket nearby, just so I didn’t ruin the carpet when I hurled.

Yes. Throw that perfectly good food out so you can have some la-de-da sausages from pigs that listened to Mozart while playing chess….in a jacuzzi.

Is a hot dog only a hot dog once it is a sausage served in a bun? So, given that it is most likely frankfurters that the OP is talking about, they’re perfectly “proper” sausages anyway.

Indeed! Hot dogs are the preserve of frightful council estate dwellers! Funny how they always look to be generally having more fun than the Audi owners club. What with their lips and testicle-based sausages, white bread, cans of Stella and the decent quality drugs*

    * not necessarily all together

I ate eight (see what I did there) large chilli dogs the other night.
    Cold.
    Dipped in Colmans English Mustard.
    No Buns.
    Pissed.

When I do the shopping this week I’m going to have to get a few jars of hotdogs now, ready for pissed munchie satisfaction. I will have to smuggle them into the house and stash them in hidey holes like the bog cistern though as Mrs Stoner would be deeply unimpressed if she found them.

More or less what Stoner said. Does anyone make a decent hot-dog? i.e. made with real meat. I really don’t enjoy the eye-lid and anus muck that we used to be served when we were kids.

I buy Jungle Dogs for a quid, and seem a good compromise. Although it’s for 6 small sausages/franks/weiners. Only available at Tesco I think.
