As above really. I've been working from home the last few months, sat at a desk but using a dining chair, which I'm now feeling may be sub optimal, as it's a touch low and obviously isn't adjustable.

So, what can I get to do my constant, furious fapping work in comfort?

This might just be a rather more complex answer than you hoped, but as a frequent home worker for the last 4 years I've found an adjustable height desk, and one of these stool things, to do wonders for my posture and hence overall comfort for getting stuff done at home.

Desk was pricey, but massively worth the investment. Stool was cheap as chips, and adjustable height means you can get a good right angle on your legs, and it's 'wobbly' nature is amazing for sitting properly.

All IMHO, YMMV etc etc

I recently went through this.

This: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/chairs-stools-benches/desk-chairs/flintan-swivel-chair-vissle-grey-art-80336838/

..gets a lot of good reviews up with the best, and theirs also the same thing with arms.

However - with my dodgy lower back in consideration - my wife reminded me that the kids Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair converts to adult use and promotes good posture.

We have Aerons in the office.

I splashed out on a reconditioned one for the home office. It's very comfortable, and all mesh so you don't get a sweaty arse.

Getting secondhand means they're c£300 instead of c£900.

Another user of the ikea adjustable desk here and it's great.

Chair wise you need to try and get out and about and try some to see what suits you, I've got one from Staples with a mesh back and fabric seat to stop it getting too hot in summer.

I was recently away training in one of our new offices which only have some Aeron chairs and they were nice, there is a similar one called a nueue chair I think that Facebook keeps advertising to me.

This! I bought a Mirra rather than an Aeron though as I prefer them. I thought that it was a crazy amount to spend on a (s/h) chair but I spend a lot of time in it so managed to justify it to myself after 8 months of using a dining chair.

The company I work for got me these for working from home to support my back condition.

Very expensive, but very good

It's worth trying a few out in person if you can - Ikea's great for that of course. A mate has a John Lewis one which I found good: mesh, adjustable back, height and seat depth, and only a couple of hundred quid I think

I have an orangebox Do at home. I find it good, and was not too expensive second hand, not much over 100.
We had a session of trying out a selection of office chairs at work a year ago, and they ended up buying 2 different brands, because there was strong preference for these 2 brands out of all the ones we tried. I liked the orangebox, but I forget the other brand that was bought, though I do remember not getting on with it. It did show that you really need to try them for yourself, there were some quite strong opinions on what people were happy to sit on.

The Herman Miller chairs are very nice. I hsve one in my office and it’s a pleasure to sit in. Get a mesh base though as leather/foam/material will give you sweaty nads in the summer.

I've mentioned this many times in this parish before ...

Steelcase Leap - my current WFH chair and bloody good it is too. A bit hefty by today's standards but incredibly comfortable.

Humanscale G4 - wanted one of these but when I tried one it was too slim. Looks great and all that, but like all chairs, it must suit your derriere.

Herman Millar (Aero?) - the pigs figs IMO. Had one in my previous office and it was - and is - super light, super comfy, super cool. End of.

I am gifted with the ability to destroy chairs within a year or so. Mesh backed only lasted 6 months. But been impressed with the latest, the Solar from The Range.

Sturdy, comfy and still looks like new 18 months later. Appears they sold out but the Mercury is similar.

I’ve worked from home for a long time and have had a few iterations.

Currently I have a reconditioned Herman Miller aeron and the ikea bekant electric sit/stand desk.
I don’t tend to work standing up much now I have a decent chair but do stand and walk round the house regularly on calls.
A standard non sit/stand bekant desk is a fraction of the price and is adjustable when you assemble it. I’ve got one of those too.

If you’re on a budget of sorts, spend most of your budget on the chair and get a reconditioned Herman Miller. For the desk, a standard Bekant is a great choice.

Humanscale Diffrient World chair here (work from home most days) - £450-500

Relatively light, compact and simple for an office chair (blurb here https://www.humanscale.com/products/product.cfm?group=diffrientworldchair). Available to try in John Lewis and either buy from them black or white or order from other suppliers in various colours/trims (see https://officefurniturescene.co.uk/shop/office-chairs/ergonomic-office-chair/humanscale-diffrient-world-mesh-chair/)

I did have a technical problem with mine but the manufacturer sent a bloke out to my house to replace a part under warranty.

We have Herman Miller Celle chairs in the office - had mine for around 6 years. Doesn't look very comfy, but is - and is hard as nails (no fabric to wear on the version I have)
We've been buying Orangebox Do chairs recently as they are much cheaper and they still seem well liked by the staff that use them.

Herman Miller Aeron Chair Size B Full house Adjustable Lumber

That's the one you want - not a bad price either (assuming it includes VAT) from a quick google...

Cheers all, looks like a mooch round JL and maybe the range, as we’ve one nearby, is in order for the weekend. I’d rather slam my bollocks in the desks drawers than walk round ikea...

I also have one of the Ikea Bekant sit/stand desks - it probably spends at least 70% of the time in sitting mode but I really like being able to stand at certain points in the day. Less likely to drift off on long conference calls too.

Hag chairs are very nice as well, probably more comfortable than the Aeron but a second hand aeron should hold its price.

A metal finished Aeron is more pleasing than the normal one.

This headrest is pretty decent, I bought mine from the states, I think it was cheaper :
