What is it? It was having breakfast at the same time as me, plucking the pigeon while still alive (at first I thought it was 2 pigeons mating who liked it rough!). 2nd course had been disabled and was trying to crawl away also!

    Sparrow hawk.

Which part of the country? Goshawks are much less common and more of a woodland bird.

    FTFY 🙂

Looks Sparrowhawk to me. We’ve a local one that appears to be a very effective hunter, often seen doing similar to that one^^.

I was more impressed with the tennis court, nice. The bird not having a good time was/is a pigeon, the one enjoying the pigeon mcnuggets is a sparrow hawk. I used to have this scenario in my back garden at my old house regularly (minus the tennis court)

Yeah, but when you sleep on a park bench you don’t really get to control the grass cutting.

Without Jamie’s enlargement exercise though it really could have been a baby robin 😯

    Its a female sparrowhawk IMHO

I thought it might have been a Goshawk as well at first but I don’t think they play tennis. Female sparrowhawks are quite a bit bigger than the males and I think only females have the banding on the tail which is clearly visible.

    Ai, sparrow hawk

I’ve been sat in Al’s house overlooking the tennis courts he has, drinking beer served by his butler, whilst young women in short skirts worked up a sweat playing with balls on court

Didn’t realise baby robin mentions had a shelf life – such quality humour never grows thin does it? A bit like annoying orange – endlessly amusing. Thanks though.
