On an older bike silver and black can be mixed up and look OK.
+1 on component colours being black or Raw. Hardly bought another coloured component for about 6 years now.
I had white rims to match my white Reba fork on an orange 2009 Cotic Soul. All other components were black. I thought it looked good.
