A jaunt back to Falkirk / Callander house trails to check out the new jumpy line. Typically I was shown up by eldest_oab, met a fellow forumite, found out the cafe is expensive….

Walk and a picnic with the family round Blea Tarn, then, once I had got wifey clear of the horror that is townie drivers on the lanes up to Wrynose, a nice little pedal back over iron keld and through grizedale.
Friday night it was campervan off up to Kirroughtree to defend our title in the triples MV50, successfully http://gallowayhillbillies.org/index.php/10-kirroughtree/results-2018
We had planned on an early night without any booze to make sure we were on top form as our completion had been “training ” quite hard…… shouldn’t have bought the booze…..
We then “celebrated ” our win on Saturday night and our competitors joined in. One of the opposition team members had an unplanned trip to A&E after contact with a tree, arriving back in time for their team to collect 2nd….
So it was home today, clean bike and pack into bikebag for a wee long weekend in Bubion next weekend….
Managed to sneak in a pleasant 45km session on Lantau Island in between Typhoons Hata and Pakhar on Saturday though 30% of the time was spent trying to clear a path through the trees and bushes knocked down by Hata.
Judging by the strength of Pakhar that hit yesterday it will be a few weeks before all the trails are 100% rideable again.
A couple of big rides on my big inappropriate bike in North Wales.
All good preperation for dragging it up a few large climbs in the Alps in a few weeks time.

Rode a Sportive. No pics but finished mid third in the UCI Grand Fondo in Albi. Hardest day on a bike in 38C. Great Britain did not fare well in the heat. Lovely roads, lovely scenery. But endless rollers and baking heat with no water did not make for an easy finish. Some sportives really are races.
Friday, took the boy for his first ride at Swinley since he was on a trailerbike. Kid rides well. Moaned about the Labyrinth though, so needs to learn some respect! 🙂
Some pics from us at Callander – last one is a video if you click through: 21077351_10155403942170090_3796926984338198998_n by Matt Robinson, on Flickr

Well this weekend was my big weekend before the Ridgeway Double next weekend. Local 2hr spin on Saturday, Fast 3.5 hours on road on Sunday with SaxonRider and an epic 6 hours also with SaxonRider on Sunday. And I felt fantastic, training paying off. I felt like going further and doing more, but had to bail as I had promised to go to the museum with the kids…
Quiet over the Chase but busier than normal for a 6am start, I obviously wasn’t the only one that was told to be back at a reasonable time to do bank holiday type things.
Gratuitous bike shot – fancied a change from Lower cliff this week
