Sui, just throw a tarp over the bridge on the kids playground thing and camp underneath with the toilet in the bottom of the tower and get on with it. We all know its you not Sue that doesn't want to slum it ;O)

Slight update - i've finally filld the base with concrete today - 11 ELEVEN damn cubes of it - slightly underestimated how much was going in. I'd put photos up but no idea how to now that photobucket has gone payfor!?
Also materials, i got chatting to the local timber merchants (Alsfords), whom when you set up a trade account become much more amenable (cheap). So pretty much everything is coming from them.
So, now gone for full floating floor - 75mm EPS70, with a 18mm OSB3 (internal floor not sure yet).
Sides stud with 2x4 and OSB3 11mm, filled with 50mm kingspan. Insdie and out wrapped with house wrap Cromar Vent 3 Pro - way cheaper on Amazon surprisingly.
Roof, is 6x2 with OSB3 11m, filled with Kingspan again, then will have internal flat ceiling.
Internal walls, 50mm plaster+ insulation boards.
outside wrapped with the CROMAR stuff again, then clad with featheredge (not cedar as it is shockingly expensive)
Roof, EPDM as advised earlier in the thread. Will start building on Sunday.
Materials so far (excluding concrete as i ****ed up), are £1500.

What're your spacings from slab to fence?
Theres about 30cm from fence to slab, though it doesn't look it. The Dalby at the back has used the gravel boards for the shuttering (it's mine and I still have land beyond the fence.) there's approx 2 feet of space around the build.
Day didn't go swimmingly as I couldn't get both parts of the build square, so I'm opting to go for eye line straight and will sort internal as needed. The plate went down, then up, then down, then up, mice abit back down, move a bit more....far too much fannying around. Bit of a low point to be honest. I've spoken to 3 professional people about this ( including father in law), everyone has a different view on what to do (massive variation) so I'm biting the bullit and going for what I think will work (borrowing multiple bits of advice) , if it doesn't work at least I've learnt..!
Oh, neighbours are proper sound and willing me on, couldn't get better!

11 cube??? That is easily enough to cover 66 square metres at nominal 6", which is considered plenty enough for farm drives seeing 40 tonne traffic. And that is without reinforcing. Either yours is massively over spec or someone is having a laugh with the volume they say they delivered.
The cave is being kept, so didn't want to spend money on something to then smash it up.
Welsh -- this was partially my fault, the depth was well over 6" due to a digging error, it was almost a foot in some places and I had little effort to arrange a shed load of hardcore to rectify the problem, consider it a bit of a folly.
Anyway last wall up now, but it's raining so hard to see.

I had finished the inner cladding but forgot to take a photo last night, it actually takes a little more time and thought about cutting OSB so you line up the straight edges whilst matching with the stud work. Thats a big lesson actually, if in doubt if it's square, use the sheet materials to get it square by nailing a corner in first.
I'm going to try and wrap it with membrane during the week, this is done to make it draft proof, then at the weekend i've got some help to get the roof joists done.
A word on buying materials - Selco will pull your pants down if you don;t have an established trade account, people like Alsfords, Champion and Travis you can barter with to get half decent price.. (It was a Sunday and i needed some more 2x4).

Just a point on the roof for those interested.
It's a triple layer system of torch on. There is a venting layer (which i don't quite understand, but the roof place said put it on), which is just tacked on. Then underlay which is torched on to the venting layer. After this the mineral felt is then torched on to the underlay. Always buy enough rolls based on the lengths needed, not the square meter'age of the surface. Also account for drip edges as well (approx 15" right around the perimeter, that's folded back over and torched down). It's still worked out cheaper than EPDM and GRP, but only just!!
Ditto my roof. EPDM. Yes bit more expensive but wasnt confident not to set myself on fire!!!

@surfer just from Alsfords Timber, they take a bit of bartering but you can get them to reasonable levels once you've set up a trade account.
I'm still looking for a cladding supplier as there is so much, happy to go with cheap feather edge and stain it, but still can't get the price reasonable at the moment.

Yeah, but u values are better with PIR board (so i'm told) or double the thickness, also the PIR stuff acts as a vapour control, horrible stuff to work with (cut) though..

Bit more progress over the weekend, got the ceiling plasterboard up and the insulated stuf on the walls. Annoyingly 7 whole sheets short though - must check what i ordered vs delivered, either way i c0cked up..

Not been any updates for a while as my time has been really limited, however it's now had a plaster skim as well as one of the partition walls going up (1 more to do for the shower/toilet area. So have started pulling the electrics through.

Sockets all went in nicely, the wiring diagram i drew for that seemed to work pretty well, and putting in dry lining boxes is a piece of cake.
The ceiling lights were a different story, the lights i got which are all supposed to be the same are not, they have different cut outs and i ended up cutting too small on some so had to widen the aperture (tis very hard without a guiding drill bit)

we (read the other half) decided we did want a door between the bedrooms and the main living quarters, so a new one went in after all the plastwork and painting had been done. I found out i'm not very good at plastering, but just about got it done..
