Just shifted a motherboard and all the rest of the bits into a new pc case.

The front usb has a different plug connection to the one that was in, but the wires are (I think) the same colour, is it a safe bet that If I can get the pins out of the plug and switch them round that it will work?

More to the point, can it do any harm?

I wouldn’t risk it myself but yeah front USB tend to be the same, your better plugging it in as is though it should only go in one way.

A couple of them must be the 5volt feed (?) – I’d guess you’d damage whatever you plugged in if you got them wrong

Motherboard should either be labelled with what each pin is or it’ll be in the manual, then you can plug into the correct pins (assuming each wire on a seperate plug)

Nah, it’s a multiplug type. I think the case has standard wiring, whereas the usb connection on the motherboard is specific to older packard bell machines.

Had a real nightmare wiring the on/off switch, leds and reset earlier on. I’m not even bothering with the front mic and headphone socket.
