Off there for a day and a night tomorrow with my SO. Can anyone suggest places to go and see, places to eat and places to drink?

Establishments that are a bit “nice” would go down well!

Was there at the beginning of the week,

Ate at a nice pub opposite the theatre, really nice patisserie on the high street? (patisserie valerie).
Prior Park has a walk with a good view over the city too.

Hudson’s – Really really nice for dinner, phenomenal steak and wine. Pricey though.

If you get chance do the comedy walk. Bloody brilliant!

Becareful with the beer. The last time I was there, in various bars, I asked what beer they had, the reply was always strong, medium or weak. After a mix of strong and medium I was quite tipsy at the end of the night. 😆
And if you like your beer served correctly with a head, forget it!

Plenty of good places to eat and drink in Bath, all fairly central. Just wander round and see where takes your fancy.

There’s a Loch Fyne restaurant if you dig fish. I like the oldyworldy little theatre cinema. The Roman Baths of course. And the Abbey. And the boutique shopping, John’s Cycles, The Specialised shop, the Apple shop.

I think you might find pubs everywhere sell beer in those strengths. Bath Ales do a really good range of quality beers. The Pump Rooms are good for lunch and afternoon tea, the Hobgoblin is a good pub, but not exactly upmarket, my favourite pub’s St James’ Wine Vault un Julian Road, but it’s probably a bit far out of the centre. Lots of really good places to eat in Bath.

If I went into a bar in Chester and asked about the beer the response would be Lees, John Smith etc.

Probably because the Brewery is clearly marked on the pump label. Most people wouldn’t bother too much that Bellringer and Wild Hare are brewed by two different breweries in Bath, I drink both, depending on which the pub happens to have on tap, and a lot of people would be more concerned about the strength.

Fair enough, call me strange then.

The Green Tree pub, tiny and delightful, but as stated as above beware the seductive appeal of the local un-foamy beer.

Treat yourself and the missus at the Bath Spa – http://www.thermaebathspa.com/ – never been myself but all the reports I have heard are very positive.

Perhaps have a wander down the canal to the George at Bathampton.

Otherwise just wander round places like the the Royal Crescent (pop in the hotel there for afternoon tea), the Circle and the shopping area.

And a visit to the Roman Baths is well worth it!
