Going back to 2001/2 and after a motorbike whoopsy left me with a pined left wrist I had to put away the Mongoose SGX and ride something with suspension forks. Check out the Lovely Judy TTs (still in the shed), rear brake only, big-ringing it…
The frame snapped by the seat tube/top tube about a year after.
My friend Phil had one of these-
Which I borrowed after one house party to go and get some bacon and milk from Morrisons on. After nailing a set of footbridge stairs my foot spun on the pedal at walking pace and I’ve still got the scars on my shin today.
Loving the splatter paint jobs on the retro Konas. My first real MTB (after a Raleigh Maverick) was a Kona Lave Dome from the same year (1990) except I got the limited edition all white version/non-splatter. It was bought from Covent Garden Cycles, a shop that had a Mint Sauce mural on the wall. I also got a free pair of JT Thread glasses, anybody remember those?
Random fact I later wnet to work in Covent Garden Cycles around 1996, when it was part of the Wheely Serious group of shops.
i had some AXO Ponies 😀 they should remake a modern version, same goes for that Klein paintjob – i think its fab, would go down a treat on any fat tubed modern bike (5?)
