It’s likely that sitting on my car might push out a dent so that’d be good. But on the other hand, it could make a clean spot, which would be unsightly.

How worked up do you folks get when kids kick a ball into your garden

Not at all. Not too bothered the other day when parked next to a park and a football hit my car either. Unintentioned events are different to a form of potential vandalism.

We live on the end of a row of flats.

I’m glad that kids these days play GTA and CoD, that way they aren’t surprised by the language used when they decide to play “kick the ball as high and hard against the wall as possible”. One little s*** even fell about laughing when he managed to knock our window closed, and the little s***’s have knocked the cables off the ariel too.

I used to think it was the product of the rougher estate the other side of the park. Now I’m starting to think that maybe basic respect for other peoples property is lacking from the middle classes based on some of this thread!

Right, this is really freaking me out now. Can someone please confirm the forum is broken so I can get out from underneath my stairs?

Dudes. The Internet police are after all of us. We’ve collectively broken Codes 22, 67 & 437-b. We’ve been too self-absorbed, too argumentative and not shown enough pictures of ‘cute’ cats.

Run for gods sake! While you still have time! It’s too late for m…

On the plus side that epic-tv advert has also gone so now I can actualy open more than one STW window without the computer slowing to a crawl

Cars have metal shells so that the sensitive insides don’t get damaged. These shells are designed to take the occasional 80mph piece of gravel hitting them, seagull poo and all sorts. Someone sitting on them with feet on the ground, or putting keys down isn’t likely to cause harm, so get off your high horse.
Or keep it in the garage if you’re so precious.

So, I see a clearly expensive bike propped against a wall, quite possibly yours, and instead of standing next to it, or sitting on the wall, because my poor tired little legs can barely support me any more, I sit on the bike, causing it to move and slide against whatever its leaning against, thus putting deep gouges in the paint and the underlying structure, possibly carbon.
I guess you’re perfectly OK with some random person showing such a total lack of respect to something that cost you a lot of money.
I guess you’re ok with people tossing their garbage into your garden, pissing into it, and taking a dump there as well, all things that show an equal lack of respect for the rights of others. 🙄
And this page has definitely taken a turn for the odd-looking, too.
Still, nice to not have any adverts flickering away on the right-hand side… 😉

Well that took a little longer than I expected, but we got there in the end.
From a person merely sitting on a car to (and a risk to scratching the lacquer)…

…the threat of something being written off. Excellent work sir. 😆

There’s a perfectly good, sturdy stone wall next to it if anyone wants to sit down

Speaking of, a whie ago I was chatting on my phone and felt like a sit down so sat on a wall. Out runs homeowner asking me what I thought I was doing. Strange people …

    Oh for god’s sake…..
I live in a city. My car has to live on the street as there were no garages built 120 years ago. It’s been accidentally scratched by other peoples’ bad parking, and a mirror written off. It’s a pain, but it happens.
I don’t condone behaviour that would cause damage, but I can’t see how leaning / sitting on a car (not bearing much weight) or putting keys down on it would be objectionable. You know what? Sometimes I rest my gloves and helmet on the bike on the other side of the Sheffield stand when I’m locking my bike. I can’t see a problem with that, nor would I object if someone did the same to mine.

And kids sit or stand on my wall most days on the way home from school. Big deal, so what? It’s so they can jump out onto the pavement to scare their mummies. Why on earth would I object?

I came back to find a couple placing there child on my motorbike so he could have his picture taken, I wasn’t too impressed but no violence was dished out, I let them finish, in the hope he would one day remember that moment when he got his first motorbike.

so no-one wears jeans with rivets in them anymore?

maybe those hipster sisters jeans that will not fit you if you have cyclists legs dont, but most ‘dad’ jeans still do

that is how ‘lounging’ against a car can damage the paintwork. If you want to lean on acar , lean on your own car , not someone elses

My stepfather is like this – they have a couple of lovingly restored vintage cars. He is such a show-off he has to park it dead outside the very front of everywhere we go in it (wineries, usually) then we get some relief from his tedious banging on about the car, as Mother and I go and have a nice lunch while he guards it from people touching it and bores the face off passers-by. Brilliant system from my point of view !

I bought him a Chauffeur’s Hat, but got a telling off as that was deemed to be “too far”.

I wouldn’t do it to a friends car so I wouldn’t expect anyone to think of it as normal.

What if someone’s cat sits on your car? Is it OK to shoot it with an air rifle?

Steady. What if it’s not your cat, but it’s sitting on your car? You’d still touch it?

If your motor vehicle is that precious, buy a property with a drive or garage – if it’s parked on a public road it’s fair game 😛

My cat hates staying in the garage. It likes to sit on peoples’ cars, on the street.

My car is filthy and has an over-sensitive alarm. I’ve never seen anyone sitting on it.

What about when a friend unloads his bike from my car and leans his wheels, or worse his bike, against the car? Should I resort to violence immediately? 🙂

Ok, the “I hate cars” crowd just seems to be trolling…. What about if your motorbike was parked up and someone leaned against it?

I’d be pissed (car or bike), it’s disrespectful at the very least, regardless of how precious I felt about the car/bike in question.
