Looking around with the idea of building something as a trail-centre/alpine/nightride/weekend blast bike. I’ve had my sanderson soloist on 130mm revelations for ages which I loved but the forks died and I’m wondering about taking the opportunity to go for something with an extra 20mm or so of travel. Evil Sovereignesque but with tapered or 1.5 headtube.

Chameleon or something else?
Any reccomendations?

I ran a chameleon singlespeed for many years, but only with 100mm forks. Singlespeed chameleons rock and I can heartily recommend them

I also ran a blue pig for a while with 150mm forks, but with gears

I just don’t get the long travel singlespeed idea. For me there’s too much fork movement when climbing. YMMV, though

456C with Lyriks is great fun, that’s where my money would be.

PS, wound down to 115 the lyriks are great for climbing and the pop-lock thing sorts them for SS climbing too.

456c singlespeed was pretty good for me.

Back end was almost too light – it tended to bounce off stuff a bit.

For me there’s too much fork movement when climbing. YMMV, though

that’s where u-turn and lockouts come into their own.
