My girlfriend and I are planning to spend a week with her family at their Villa which resides in between El Grande and De La Torre. The last time we were there having never been there and knowing nothing of the area, I surprised by how mountainous it is, all I could think about was riding up there.
So yeah, Sierra de Mijas, 100mm hardtail (my only bike), will it be worth taking the bike on holiday with us? Does anyone on here live near there that could maybe show me some stuff? and just any general information that will be useful to know.

Get in touch with Wayne at http://www.hikeandbikeholidays.com/

I was over there in April for a week and just hired a bike for a couple of days. Coupled with some self-guided routes courtesy of Wayne I had a great time. Bikes are decent 29ers – ideal for the terrain – and it’s a lot less hassle than packing/taking/paying for your own. He even swaps the brakes around for you 😉

Cheers Scotroutes. that’s brilliant, not given any thought to hiring a bike. Will get in touch with him and see what he has to say

There are some great tracks where you are based from the mountains behind you to some easier stuff in the flat valley in front of you.

We have some good rides in the alhaurin forest if you wanted to join us for a day or just get in touch for advice.
