Oooooh, can’t wait to join this one! I feel like such a kid again, building up a jump bike right now… I’m 32 but despite my lack of ability, its an itch that needed scratching once more!
Won’t be anything special, got a cheap Fire Eye Bloodshot frame off CRC, will be 1×8 geared, Deore disc brakes (its not gonna be a proper full on DJ, more of a rag about HT), just deciding on forks (old school Zocchi’s or newer Rockshox?), a stem, and the rims (are EX729’s overkill do you reckon?).
Mines certainly not gonna be 24.4lb though when finished, even my Ti HT isn’t that light!Posted 5 years agomamadirtMember
There you go . . .
Stripping it down as we speak though – it shares a build with my Blood and after this afternoon’s very gloopy session in the local woods I have a yearning for gears again (mine’s the newer model Sanchez without a mech hanger). It can spend a month or two on my kitchen wall until the trails dry out . . . wishful thinking modePosted 5 years agodavidtaylforthMember
I like those Giant STPs. What is yours?
I had a go on a light build of a Santa Cruz Jackal and it was really nice to ride. I think an alloy frame and light bits is the way to go if you dont ride too hard.
This was heavy!
And my bmx
Dont ride either of them anymore!Posted 5 years agomtbmaffSubscriber
