Hi someones given me a Shimano shadow rear mech, i know it needs more pull than a normal mech, so can someone recommend a shifter for it? 9 speed (if possible), a link would be good to where i can buy one too!

I might be confused, but you need to have the right speed shifter for the right mech, after that it’s a matter of the nicest Shimano one you can stomach the price of?

I’m not completely sure but I think the shadow mech is 10sp only?

No it does not .

Just use a 9 speed Shimano shifter .

I have M970 shifters on two bikes . One bike has a standard mech and one a shadow .

Both shift exactly the same .

There were 9 and 10 speed Shadow rear mechs. Assuming it is a 9 speed RD-M772 mech then any Shimano 9 speed MTB shifter will work fine.

Get the mech model number then we can better advise you!

Now you mention it, yes it might. I ran a 10sp Shimano shifter with a 9sp sram xo shifter. You need a spacer under where the cable is gripped on the mech. I think it’s slightly less than 3mm but Google it.
