schwalbe tyre logo / valve lining up conspiracy (also a PSA)

I just bought some hans dampfs (PSA, €70 posted for the pair from bike-discount.de) and fitted them to my yeti… adhering to the usual stw aesthetics, I dutifully lined up valves and logos and admired the way the back tyre had ‘schwalbe’ and ‘hans dampf’ lined up perfectly at 12 and 6 o’clock.

Imagine my horror when I noticed the front tyre has the logos at 12 and 4 o’clock!!

Should I send them back?? 😉

I line up with the “pace star” next to the valve…they line up neater then. 😳

Weird though – have you fitted the rear in the opposite direction? If both fitted with the same rotation would they match?

I would be more worried about that poor plant on the right….

rear (pacestar) has logos on both sides at 12 and 6… front (trailstar) has them the same on each side; i.e. the ‘hans dampf’ logo is immediately behind where it is that you can see.

(not sure any of the previous paragraph makes much sense)

I think you’ll find that the seat post will attract all the attention. The tyre logos are quite safe.

they’re 150mm revelations, but it is an old skool 575, not an asr-sl 🙂 I don’t think the asr-sl was meant for anything more than 100mm!

I believe the problem lies with the grass growing between the concrete, thats whats sucking the life out that poor plant, nice seatpost

Now, I find everything on show is a but sluttish, beauty is in the imagination and in what you can’t see.

not entirely sure that post is at the correct height… had just washed the bike and taken the post out to empty water out of the frame…. curse my haste to take a photo!

I am running 130’s on my ASR SL. I switched to flat bars to compensate a bit and its been fine for the last year in the Peak. It has certainly made the downs more fun.

Obviously can’t guarantee that yours won’t explode / void warranty etc.

Can you get very long seat posts or just long ones !,it is very nice .

I’d get a surveyor to look at tat subsidence too,afterall you wouldn’t want that shed to fall on the plant !..

I bought a pair of those from bike-discount. No such problems. I’d feel like a **** if I asked for money back because of aberrant logo placement though…

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, as being Schwalbe tyres they will only last a couple of rides anyway.

Yeti website give info re geometry of ASR-SL run with 80mm, 100mm and 120mm forks respectively . Used to run mine with 100mm travel but now running 120mm Rebas. Not sure if I really notice any difference, except when climbing, where 100mm was better.

Back on topic: I would be pretty annoyed about the logos, but sending back to Germany is such a hassle.

I’ve got a set of Nobby Nics that line up with the valves on one side, but turn the bike round and from the other side they’re not aligned

Every puncture repair leads to a frenzy of confused OCD-related head scratching. which side to align? I just don’t know! Its pure evil! Nothing less!

Not actually serious about sending them back, apart from anything else, they wouldn’t be back in time for me to take them to the alps on Friday. I’m taking this as my XC bike, and my Covert for bigger stuff.

the beads were quite tight on the rims, but went on without too much bother.

I was amazed at how easy they were to inflate though… even with the beads in the drop channel, the tyre was already holding air. I inflated them with a a track pump without even removing the valve core. Had to pump them to 45psi before both beads popped though: BANG BANG!

I’m enjoying the seatpost abuse from all you stumpy legged midgets 😉 The more you abuse the little things, the more I know you all love my bike It’s the highest form of praise 😆

It could be worse. I’ve got some Specialized 29er tyres with the wrong logos on them entirely! They’ve got the 26″ stickers on them!

On the plus side it’s great for confusing people.

Just fitted a crossmark the other day and maxxis seem to be playing the same game.

Got it….peel the label off the rim and line it up…problem solved..sort of

IPA will take the decals off if you scrub hard enough.
