Whilst I wait for my Vivid air to be replaced by Fisher (2-4 weeks) I’ve picked up a new Vivid coil R2C.
I’ve got no experience of setting up a coil so has anyone got any tips/links to a set-up guide?
I guess sag is adjusted using the pre-load screw?

Sag is a combination of the spring rate and the preload collar.

Set sag with spring rate as much as possible, the less preload you run the better – as although it affects sag, it also effects the initial breakaway forces of the shock, so that nice plush stiction free coil shock of yours – instead of needing 0.1 lbs of pressure to move it through it’s first few mm of travel….now needs 10 times that pressure.

More companies are making steel springs in 25lb instead of 50lb increments, so look into that.

There used to be a pocket setup guide for Vivids on the Sram website, worth having a look for (they actually had done it in such a way that you could print it and fold it up as a wee pocket guide for use when dialing it in)
