Blimey, Victoria Pendleton’s bike’s been sold already. Revealing interview on the Guardian site:

I wasn’t so bothered about reading her biography before, but I think it might be a bit more interesting than I’d expected after that piece.

    Think this explains it well:

    This Be the Verse
    Philip Larkin

They **** you up, your mum and dad.
They may not mean to, but they do.
They fill you with the faults they had
And add some extra, just for you.

But they were **** up in their turn
By fools in old-style hats and coats,
Who half the time were soppy-stern
And half at one another’s throats.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself.

she sounds like a bit of a nightmare, but then all elite athletes are slightly nuts.

I’m just imagining Philip Larkin on a time trial bike 🙂

In a weird way she comes across as strangely sorted. Perhaps because she’s doing what she wants with whom she wants for the first time.

Maybe not of course – I’m no expert.
