Bit of a daft question but how do you remove the axle to take the wheel out? I've undone the QRs on the fork legs and also unwound the lever on the axle - instead of the axle coming out the fork leg moves out and then there is a knocking noise as the axle runs out if thread...but the axle refuses to move out of the hub - so it is stuck in the fork legs...any ideas on how to remove it?

Not my bike so not keen on using my persuader on it!

Thanks.

Sounds like the 20mm axle has seized onto the hub. If you unscrew the axle as far as you can then deliver a sharp blow onto the end of the axle with a percussive persuader and a bit of wood that should do the trick.

yup as fe says, stuck in the hub. apply some force with a hammer and softish drift, then grease.

I laid the bike over spray in some teflon lube and let it soke for a about ten minutes, not sure that it did anything but made me feel better about it. Then used an old skewer and the palm of my hand to belt the sod out, I would if needed have got out the hammer. Worked and treat. Then put on some grease and its never happened again.

Use a rubber mallet type hammer, otherwise the rest of your fork might not live to tell the tale if you're using a traditional ball peen hammer. 😯

Ok, so skelp which end of the axle? The end that has unscrewed or the end that has the lever on it? Don't own a rubberised persuader or a ball peen hammer but I do own a rather tidy mash hammer that seems to shift everything it comes into contact with!

I'll get it done tonight as I'm having to clean my bike and fix the 15+ punctures in both tyres...so will need something to knock the living bejeezus out of to sort out my rage!

Without stating the 'bleedin' obvious'.....

Have you looked at the Fox website and their Tech Centre for help? Or called Mojo who distribute them for any advice? 🙄

Looked on the Fox site and there isn't a troubleshooting section so no info on what to do if...there isn't an exploded diagram so I was unsure if the axle screwed direct into the fork or into an insert - my thinking was if it was into an insert then the insert has separated from the fork and won't be coming out.

Only got handed the bike last night so not had time to phone anyone...but cheers for the suggestion, will give them a call to confirm which end I skelp!

As others have said, it's just seized to the bearings due to the crap design and sealing of must 20mm hubs.

You'll need to apply some force (some wd40/plusgas might help too).
