    Well half a dozen actually.

Not the most interesting of topics I know but I’m planning on ditching the Camelback.

LBS has a load of gaudy plastic cages that look terrible.

Thinking silver and steel – like the CK cage without the price though!

    Any good suggestions?

    Cheers,

    Mark

Been running a Fabric cageless bottle for a couple of months and it works fine and looks neat:

CK? I take it you mean a King Cage (Nothing to do with chris king) they are the best and the steel ones are £15 unlike the titanium ones at £50

I have steel king cage (not chris king btw), arundel steel cage; both nice. Blackburn chicane is a bit cheaper.

I’ve used a lot over the years. If you want steel, look at a Salsa Nickless Cage. Carbon, Lezyne or USE.

Anything else I’ve tried turns into a bottle launcher after a few rides.

    Alloy: Elite cuisi gel cage
    Carbon : Arundel

Never lost a bottle from either. The Elite is a pro favourite over the cobbles. Available in silver and black.

I’ve had good experience with the Blackburn slick cage, cheap, weighs just 23g ,good bottle retention.

I got a chinese carbon cage a couple of years ago from ebay for around £7 iirc. Its still on the bike and has been fautless, no rattles or complaints so maybe worth a punt.

blackburn MTN is the only cage i use these days.

Robust – last and bottles dinnae fall oot.

had to many lost bottles and broken cages in the early days to consider anything else now.

Elite Ciussi for an alu option or Custom for a plastic option. No need to spend any more.

I really rate the specialized rib cage. Pretty cheap, light as you need, never lost a bottle in 3 years of use and looks pretty sweet too! I considered the fabric cageless bottle myself, but reckon they’d be a reet ball ache to get the bottle lined up and re attached off-road… looks neat though.

Still using my original spesh rib cage! Must be over 20 years old now, but works a treat off road. You can still get them, although eBay link is bloody awkward on phone!

Elite Cannibal on the MTB gnarmac bike. Very good IMHO.

If I was buying on looks, though, King would be my choice.

I like the Bontrager Race Lite cages. Made of plastic, and plenty colours to choose from. And holds the bottle nicely.

I’m not keen on metal cages, they just scratch the bottle, and it looks a mess.

The steel Blackburn ones, and Elite Custom Race have booth been good for me. Had problems with cheap steel/alloy ones from eBay. Broken a fair few…

Mt Zoom ti are very nice. Cheaper than King by a way!

Curious, what’s wrong with the cheap alloy ones? they seem decent enough.

Most of the cheap ones I’ve had have bent or broken quite easily. False economy really when I’ve paid a couple of quid more and not had any issues. Got a box full of old bottle cages…

Am I the only person who hates my King Cage Irises?

They are too tight for pretty much all brands of bottles that I have – Elite, Camelbak, generic bottles, all too tight.

My favourite cages are cheap Arundel Sport, nylon cages & cheap old Bontrager Race nylon cages.

    I’ve got a PDW Birdcage that I like too…..

BTW, might list my King Cages on eBay now I’m thinking about it.

Can’t you bend the king cages to fit your bottles?

Blackburn aluminium are my preference, got other, cheaper ones that work, but the Blackburn cages are much more robust and stand up to some mistreatment and bending about where others don’t…

Another vote for Elite Cannibal, have them on road bike, adventure bike, sons road bike and both the boys MTBs. Never dropped a bottle even on proper bumpy stuff.
